Exercises for Strengthening Internal Organs

Form 1
Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Heart

Sit upright on a stool, legs stretched out and palms resting on knees. Raise arms, trunk leaning backward. Hold this position for a moment before resuming starting position. Three to five reps. Then kneel in front of stool, hands on floor at sides. Turn head back to right and left three to five times to look over shoulders.

For disorders in spleen and stomach caused by pathogenic wind, and for loss of appetite.

Form 2
Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Lungs

Sit upright on a mat with legs crossed in front. Bend trunk forward until hands touch floor. Straighten the trunk and raise arms, palms up and fingers pointing backward. Three reps. Pound upper back with back of fists 32 times and lower back another 32 times. Strike upper and lower teeth and swallow saliva. Long meditation with eyes closed.

For disorder in lungs caused by pathogenic wind.

Form 3
Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Liver

Sit upright with legs crossed, overlying palms on lower belly. Turn trunk forcefully to left and right 15 times. Join hands with fingers interlocked and push palms forward 7 or 8 times.

For disorders in liver caused by pathogenic wind.

Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Kidneys

Sit upright with legs crossed. Place hands over ears, elbows raised, and bend trunk rightward and leftward 3 to 5 times. Thrust up arms alternately 15 times.

For disorders in kidney and bladder.

Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Gallbladder

Sit upright on a stool. Hold left foot with both hands as you sway it from side to side 15 times. Do the same with the right foot.

Then with hands on stool supporting trunk from behind, throw up chest and belly to extend verticle column. Hold this position for a moment before straightening body. 15 reps.

For disorders in gallbladder and kidneys caused by pathogenic wind

Sitting Exercise for Strengthening the Spleen

Sit upright on a stool, legs stretched out and palms resting on knees. Raise arms, trunk leaning backward. Hold this position for a moment before resuming starting position. Three to five reps. Then kneel in front of stool, hands on floor at sides. Turn head back to right and left three to five times to look over shoulders.

For disorders in spleen and stomach caused by pathogenic wind, and for loss of appetite.
