Mrs. Restino’s Country Kitchen
About the Author

Susan Restino was born in Mt. Kisco, New York, August 26, 1943, and spent her childhood in New York and on a small farm in Bethany, Connecticut. Writing and drawing were always encouraged by her mother, a writer, her grandmother, a painter, and her father, a designer. They made each other Christmas presents, birthday cards and Valentines. They also gardened and cooked together.

At Boston University she studied writing as well as liberal arts. At Marboro College in Vermont she married and had a daughter, Samantha, in 1967. In 1971, the family immigrated to Canada and took up residence in Cape Breton. Their younger daughter Carey was born in 1973, about the same time they moved to their farm and began raising their own food, cooking with it, and writing about it. Susan Restino eventually moved to British Columbia, and now lives in Victoria.
